Goodwood is situated in the Northern Suburbs. At a glance this may seem like just another suburb but on closer inspection you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy.
It is approximately 17km for Cape Town city centre via the N2 highway and only 10km from Cape Town International Airport via the M7, M12 and Halt road, respectively.
In 1905 a racecourse was constructed and the area was named Goodwood Racecourse, after the Goodwood Racecourse in England.
However, after only one race meeting, the course was abandoned.
With the convenience of the railway station, built in the same year, the area rapidly developed in spite of the failed racecourse and in 1938 achieved municipality status.
